John is one of the best Information Architects I’ve ever worked with. Insightful with many aspects of user experience design, he also brings significant expertise in requirements gathering/analysis and working with development team creating technical design for enterprise-level systems. When faced with complex issues, he can always untangle them and present key factors, feasible solutions, and subsequent implications to internal teams or clients -- he is the ‘solution-eer’. Additionally, during my time working with him on the George Washington University web project, he demonstrated superb InDesign skills by developing single-handedly a 100-page system requirement document along with a detailed documentation guide. Modest and easygoing, John inspires others in his team to do a better job with his high-quality deliverable and great work ethics.
John is always ready to step up and help solve problems, whether it's in front of a whiteboard with a group of engineers or helping our customers articulate their exact business needs. John is excellent at determining the right level of communication and documentation necessary for all parties to understand the goals of our software products and to meet those goals in the most efficient manner possible. John's design and usability expertise were key to our team's success and I would definitely work with him again.
John's understanding of e-learning, and of K12, Inc. legacy systems, is essential to the success of our project. His "can do" attitude, and his ability to rapidly absorb information and document it in a customer friendly manner makes him a valued team player, whilst his sense of humour and cheerful manner boosts team confidence and makes working with him a pleasure
Without John, I'm not sure K12 would be around today. His innate ability to understand product vision and translate that rapidly to an actual concept is nothing short of amazing. If a picture is worth 1000 words, John is a master artist. Emerging companies must move quickly, and John allowed us to deliver products at warp speed. Even more incredible is the fact that seven years later, most of the products he helped develop are still in use.
